Convert To Digital Format Already!
Don’t know about the rest of you, but I am completely exhausted from the constant scroll on the bottom of my TV screen regarding the digital conversion.
It started with a constant flood of commercials about two years ago. You remember those public service announcements don’t you? They kept repeating (about every other commercial) that on “such ‘n such a date, TV will no longer be transmitted in analog format! So go out and get your conversion box TODAY!!” But of course, even with the continuous barrage of public service harassment, the majority of analog TV viewers still didn’t get the message. So the date was moved… and then needed to be advertised that it was moved, but the date was soon moved again, and of course… that too needed to be advertised as well. It was as if George Lucas was running the show, we all know how he loves to constantly change and polish his creations. No sooner did I buy the special edition Star Wars DVD collection, did he then released the super special edition Star Wars DVD collection!.. Damn!
But to get back to my point, we are once again on the verge of what I hope to be the final, final, final digital cable conversion date. Which as far as I know, is slated for Friday June 12th. I know there are people pushing to move this date once again, and to them I say… Stop It!! No matter how much you advertise, even so much as going door to door and stuffing a conversion box down their throats, many people will still not be ready for this change! It’s a statistical certainty.
So let it go, let it happen and understand that there will be casualties no matter what, and let me get back to watching my TV, scroll free (mostly anyway).
